C.G. Conn Perfected Wonder

Una curiosità appena scoperta su questa cornetta: su C.G. Conn's Truth vol. VI No. 4 - Agosto 1906 è presente una lettera di sostegno (oggi la definiremo un endorsement) scritta da niente po' po' di meno che Herbert L. Clarke (all'epoca solista della Sousa's Band) per questa cornetta.

Pur considerando che si tratta di "pubblicità" è comunque interessante notare la confidenzialità che intercorre tra il Clarke ed il Colonnello (certamente si conoscevano di persona dal momento che il Colonnello era piuttosto noto per curare personalemnte queste relazioni) e le motivazioni che spingono il Clarke ad elogiare la cornetta.

Read the Indorsement of Herbert Clarke, Cornet
Soloist of Sousa's Band.
Enroute, Feb. 2nd, 1906.
My Dear Mr. Conn:—The new Cornet reached me safely and I Immediately put it into use and I have used it continually to date. I would have written sooner but have been trying to find some little fault with it, as all Cornets, more or less, have one or two faults that we find out by constant playing; but in this new one I cannot, for the life of me, find a single fault. It is the acme of perfection and I am simply in love with it and thank you a thousand times for it. Am playing a very difficult solo, one of my own, "The Bride of the Waves" twice a day now, and it is certainly a great test for a new instrument, where I end on top F and have tint missed it once so far and am con- fident never will on this new instrument. Thanking you again for the Cornet and hoping to hear from you soon, I remain, with best wishes,
